A State of Tranquility

Despite being a native Filipino, it took me a while to explore my lovely country. But who would appreciate traveling at a very young age? So I took my liberty and start my little adventures while I am on my eighteenth year of existence. One of the perks of traveling while you're still a student and not having any summer jobs is you get to travel for free because your parents are the ones funding your trips. This summer vacation, my family and I, together with our family friends decided to go to La Union, one of the top surfing destinations of the Philippines.

So here's the list of our whereabouts:

MACHO TEMPLE (San Fernando, La Union)

If you all know the movie Mano Po and it's sequel, here's a little clincher: the movie was not really taken in China but here. The impeccable Taoist architecture will give you the feels of China.

NAMACPACAN CHURCH (Luna, La Union)

Arriving at La Union safe and sound is already a blessing and enough reason for us to visit God and say a little prayer. But dropping by the church took us more by surprise when we saw its white and blue facade (sorry I have no photos to show, please do some research) and its well-preserved interior. This church is also known for the miraculous image of Our lady of Namacpacan.

ALCORA FRENCH RESTO MAISON (San Fernando, La Union)

Of course our trip will not be complete without dipping in the cold-salty water of La Union. It was really such a bummer because we didn't had the chance to surf and experience the huge waves of La Union where they were known for. This is apparently because of low tide but we still went for a swim and let our sun-kissed skins roll over the fine white sand.

Alcora French Resto Maison also offers a scrumptious Filipino and French cuisine which you can enjoy eating while having a perfect serene view (again my apologies for having no photos because I'm too famished to even take a picture of the foods).

BALUARTE AND NOBLE STONE HOUSE (Luna, La Union)

The shore and the whole beach are made up of stones instead of fine white sand that's why this place is literally called the Stone House ("Bahay na Bato" ). Also, along side of this place are the different vendors of stones. The stones vary from different sizes, shapes, and designs. Some interior designers and home owners come to this place just to buy stones in wholesale for designing the interior and exterior parts of their houses. And you can also get stones as a souvenir for free!

THUNDERBIRD (San Fernando, La Union)

Topping my bucket list is to travel to Santorini, Greece and viola, the Thunderbird Resort found in San Fernando, La Union is a complete Santorini replica and I am fascinated by everything. From the facade to the patio and up to the infinity pool with an over-looking view of the serene beach of La Union.

That's to sum up my La Union voyage! Always keep in mind that no one should stop you from traveling. If you have enough cash, go ahead and explore new places, traveling should not be very extravagant! Do not be a tourist to your own country.
